Romeo Jones came to life in the autumn of 2007 and has gone from strength to strength as one of the most interesting independent food shops around. Never taking for granted the importance of good food we seek out small producers and growers from around the country.
An eccentric little gem… over the years our range has evolved to include deli produce for doggies, hand made table wear, local honey & award winning cheeses. Using the produce from the shop we continually change our café menu with the seasons, and often by the day.
With such a rich and diverse art scene locally, Romeo Jones has become a destination to discover both established & celebrated artists, with new artists being showcased every month.
We are open Monday - Saturday from 8am, opening Sunday at 9am.
Not only is your faithful friend welcome inside Romeo Jones, you’ll also find the full range of Edgar Cooper pet foods, with fresh meat & fish, fruit & veg, biodegradable packaging, as well supporting doggy charities this has to be the best choice for Fido.
Drop by on your way back from the park for a warming coffee, then pick up supper for the family - four legged ones included.
Due to the lockdown, the cafe is currently closed, we are still open for takeway though.
Simply watch Village life go by from our cafe – with seating inside and out and a menu that changes as much as the weather. House wines & beers available all day long.
This Months menu highlights...
Spiced squash soup
Wild mushroom & mozzarella ravioli with parmesan & rocket salad
Halloumi salad with avocado, pomegranate & toasted seeds
Classic BLT on granary toast with mayo
The coffee is simply the best around.
We start pulling shots early enough to pick one up & perk you up before the school run.
Breakfast is tip top too; scrambled eggs on sourdough with smoked salmon will set you up the rest of the day.
Come and wake up with us!
What’s more British than tea & cake?
We serve Tea Pigs & Birchall’s as well as a range of home made & decidedly naughty cakes, with a wheat, gluten & dairy free options too.
Local ladies Jessica Walker & Nicola Foster spent the summer (and beyond) raising awareness about the importance of swimming for both mental and physical well-being and their plight at the closure of lidos through lockdown. Their alter egos the Lido Ladies, created their own lido fantasy world which was captured on film by celebrity photographers including Isobel Prime, Nicky Johnston & Joy Maxwell-Davis, as well as getting much national media coverage.
Their wonderful and heart felt adventure has now been turned into a fabulous calendar which is for sale in Romeo Jones, or can be ordered here online for only £10. All proceeds are being donated to the mental health charity, MIND.
Whatever you are…A sweet toothed sort, savoury sinner, busy bee, doyenne of home entertaining, lazy lump… it’s all here – an edited collection of the best that’s tasty.

Earlier this week I put it out there that we had a stash of lemons needing to go to a good home for re-purposing into Lemon Curd.
We are delighted to say that our surplus lemons have raised over £200 for MIND. A big “Thank You” to all those involved.
Meet Tom; Tom ‘Rory’ Rawlings joined the team this summer to look after our kitchen and everything that goes in and out of it. He was looking for a different type of challenge after working in West End restaurants like The Ivy & Hawksmoor, now says he has come to really appreciate the community feeling in Dulwich Village.
Tom was born in York 33 years ago but grew up in Shropshire where he did his chef training, then went to work in Australia for over 4 years building on his culinary meat & seafood skills. Tom supports Arsenal and has started studying brewing (where much field work for the latter is required…). He’s a fan of new food trends and really embracing the shift to a more plant based offering.
Join us for lunch, say hello to Tom & tell your friends about his fab food!
We are delighted to have Julia Burnett’s latest collection of land and skyscapes back in Romeo Jones. Julia’s extensive career in making and exhibiting art as well as teaching has resulted in her being one of the most loved & recognised local artists.
Julia Burnett’s paintings are rooted in the tradition of landscape painting but it is the sense of place that interests her in my work. The paintings are inspired by moments in time and how she holds them in her memory.
